MEI Expands Capabilities with Purchase of
IDX Robotics
Albany, OR November 28, 2005
- MEI, LLC of Albany, Ore., has purchased the
assets of IDX Robotics of Corvallis, Ore. IDX Robotics’ main product is software
used to run a variety of automated systems, including wet processing equipment
used by semiconductor manufacturers in the production of memory and
microprocessor chips. The purchase also includes exclusive licensing rights to
the IDX Robotics software code.
According to Dan Cappello, chief executive officer at MEI, IDX
Robotics’ product and service offerings mesh perfectly with MEI’s core
capabilities in wet system manufacturing and service, including full service
equipment and parts manufacturing, as well as the ability to upgrade and
retrofit existing in-house systems and software for its clients.
“MEI will also begin licensing the IDX Robotics software to
other process equipment manufacturers,” Cappello notes. Cappello adds that the
purchase will provide MEI and licensees of the IDX Robotics software with the
expertise of IDX Robotics founding partner Steve Gray as software engineering
manager.
